Recitals

DSMTA Recitals offer a wonderful opportunity for your students to take part in a multi-studio event. They allow them to be exposed to and inspired by students of varying degrees of proficiency---from very early to very advanced! Please consider entering a few (or a lot!!) of students during the 2021-22 school year. Recital dates and places my be found on the application below or the DSMTA Calendar. If you have questions please contact
Stephanie Ferguson. Registrations online.
Also, students may play duets or trios at the DSTMA recitals. Ensemble pieces do not need to be memorized. There is only one piano, so it cannot be duos.
Here's how you will do it on the Tenuto system:
If your students are ONLY doing ensemble pieces, sign one student up so there is only one fee. Then put a note in the "Comment to Chair" box that has the other student's name and that they are duets.
If your students are doing both solo and ensemble pieces, you need to register each student for any solo pieces, but put the ensemble piece under only ONE of the student's registrations. Then make a note to the recital Chair that Student X is additionally on the XYZ ensemble piece. This way the ensemble piece does not give extra time to each student's fee.
(The students themselves can Venmo each other the $2-3 if the one student doesn't want to hold the whole ensemble time fee on his application, but it's not worth the cost of fixing the Tenuto system for such rare occasions.)

Honors Recital Information
(application below this section)
The Honors Recital is the culminating recital of the year and has different requirements than the regular recitals. The requirements are:
1. Students must have received a "Superior Plus" rating from the judge at the current year solo festival.
2. Students are required to have performed in one DSMTA recital during the current year to be eligible.
3. Recitals are limited to Intermediate and Advanced level students only.
4. Students must have accumulated a minimum of 75 points in festivals in the last 5 years.
5. Students performing on the Honors Recital will be limited to one piece, within the given time limit. Memorization is required.
6. One teacher will be assigned to be in charge for the honors recital and give out the awards in each recital time.
7. Teachers must include a copy of the student's adjudication form from the performance festival with the application. (Unnecessary during any virtual years, as the system stores the judge sheet so we can check.)
8. There is no limit on the number of S+ students from one teacher as long as all of the requirements are met.
Two exceptions: If a student participates in an MTNA competition they are automatically eligible for the Honors Recital. Students who have played in DSMTA Master Classes will receive credit for one recital.
